Port Hope & District Agricultural Society seeks Secretary/Treasurer

The Port Hope and District Agricultural Society is a volunteer based Canadian Registered Charity run by a Board of Directors responsible for the creation of the annual Port Hope Fair which takes place the 2nd weekend of September following Labour Day. We are seeking a vibrant person with exceptional interpersonal skills, an organized and detail oriented person to take on the position of Secretary/Treasurer which is an annually appointed volunteer position with an annual paid honorarium.

This is a home based position and applicants must have general office administrative experience with the ability to perform various clerical functions including preparing agendas, recording meeting minutes, handling correspondence and overall management of all Society records. Ensure that the website is up to date.
Perform all accounting/financial functions using QuickBooks or other similar accounting program plus the ability to prepare financial reports/spreadsheets. Knowledge of databases and email is also essential. Other functions include issuance of charity tax receipts, filing of HST and other annual government filings, grant applications, processing of invoices and cheques, bank deposits, bank statement reconciliation. Be familiar with contracts/tenders.

Experience in a not-for-profit organization or Registered Charity would be an asset.
